Cyprus’s capital, divided in two, offers historic places of interest both in the south and in the north, which is where our 5-star hotel close to Nicosia city center is located. On the Turkish side, visit the former Saint Sophia Cathedral in Nicosia, now Selimiye Mosque. Combining originally-Gothic architecture with two more recent minarets, its distinguishing characteristic is that it mixes religions and eras, and is an unmissable monument in Nicosia. At the Cyprus Archeological Museum, located in the Greek part of the city, you’ll get an insight into the island’s history until the Byzantine period in the seventh century. Numerous jewels, coins and pieces of pottery are housed here. Finally, from the top of Shacolas tower observatory, you’ll discover the city from a dual perspective. A historic perspective, first of all, thanks to a collection of old photographs, and, second, a panoramic perspective, looking out from the observatory. In the evening, at the casino at our hotel in Nicosia, fun is on the cards… as could be luck! Who knows?
