What to do in Calcutta
During your trip to Calcutta, you will see museums and grand temples. The city is endowed with remarkable monuments to see up close. On the banks of the Hooghly River, the Victoria Memorial is open to visitors. The history museum was built in tribute to Queen Victoria, Empress of India. Its collections and gardens justify the detour as much for their beauty as for their scientific interest. Next, head to the Indian Museum not far from the hotel. It is one of the oldest and largest museums in Asia! Inestimable pieces are kept there, distributed among 60 galleries. Paintings, mummies, fossils, architectural remains, etc., tell you about India's past. A great cultural trip. Also don’t miss the Dakshineswar Kali temple, another must-see in the city. This splendid site is actually a complex with 13 temples. The main temple, dedicated to the goddess Kali, surprises with its 9 domes.

To see around Calcutta
Venture out into the surroundings to see many other gems. 90 miles from your 4-star hotel in Calcutta, Bishnupur will charm you. The city is famous for its atypical terracotta architecture and, more particularly, its 18 temples dating from the 16thth-18th centuries. Continue your exploration in the Sundarbans. Straddling India and Bangladesh, this mangrove is the largest on the planet. Note that its 10,000 km² are classified as a UNESCO world heritage site. A myriad of plant and animal species have taken up residence in this protected park. Several of them are considered threatened with extinction. In the Ganges Delta, Sagar Island is ideal for an authentic break. Beaches, Kapil Muni Temple and events bringing together thousands of pilgrims will make your trip a unique moment. Upon returning from your journey, find the Golden Tulip restaurants for a comforting meal.
