TRAVEL GUIDE
What to do in Udaipur ?
During your stay in Udaipur, you’ll find out why the former capital of the Mewar kingdom is sometimes called the “city of lakes.” You could start your activities with a cruise at sunset on Pichola lake. At this time, you’ll admire the beautiful facades of the opulent palaces which earned the city its second nickname- the “Venice of India.” On the lake’s right bank, you’ll explore City Palace, the largest and most romantic of Rajasthan’s palaces. Jagdish temple, which is nearby and flanked with two stone elephants, is also among Udaipur’s unmissable sites. To enjoy a moment’s coolth, head to Gulab Bagh gardens, known for their rose garden. Stepping out of your hotel near Shiv Niwas palace, you’ll also have the opportunity to climb to the top of Bansdara hill, atop which stands Sajjangarh fort. From here, you’ll enjoy the most beautiful viewpoint onto the city.

On the rooftop terrace, or in the dining room or in your room, you’ll be tempted to try flavorful red curry recipes, such as laal maas (sheep curry). To honor local traditions, you’ll enjoy sharing a thali (a selection of vegetarian dishes served on a platter). You’ll pair your wood-fire grilled dishes with unctuous dahls (pink lentils seasoned with cumin and turmeric) and crispy chapatis (flat breads).
