TRAVEL GUIDE

What to do in Lausanne?

Benefiting both from a location close to Lake Geneva and a rich cultural heritage, Lausanne offers you as many outdoor activities as it does museums and monuments to visit. When based at our hotel near Lausanne old town, you’ll be able to access Notre-Dame cathedral. Characteristic of this Gothic structure that is the largest of its kind in Switzerland are the painted gates, medieval stained-glass windows, as well as the recently inaugurated great organs. After stopping by the Lausanne History Museum and going for a walk along the narrow streets of the city center, head towards Quai d’Ouchy, a must-see experience in Lausanne. You’ll love strolling around this haven of greenness offering views onto the lake, entertainment for children and lovely cafe terraces where you can sip a drink. Perched on a nearby hill, some yards away, is the Olympic museum, which will tell you the tale of the Games inaugurated in Lausanne in 1993.

Build on terraces overlooking the lake, the Lavaux vineyard is the perfect spot to enjoy a unique viewpoint of the region. Some nineteen miles from our establishment, you’ll come across Chillon castle, built on an islet lapped at by the waves. The former residence of the House of Savoy, it basks in an atmosphere both romantic and medieval! A little further on, in Bex, the labyrinths of salt mines will allow you to trace the origins of this precious mineral. Finally, in Vevey, the Alimentarium, a food museum founded by Nestlé, will open its doors to you. Also available to you here are cooking classes.
