I was very pleasantly surprised with my room, room 108, which was a spacious junior suite with a double bed, sofa, armchair, table and desk. There was a large modern flat screen TV, however, many of the channels had no sound. BBC1 and BBC 2 were available, along with CNN and possibly another English language station too, however neither of these had sound. Other passengers on the coach trip said the same thing. I didn't enquire at reception about this as I don't actually watch these channels anyway, and even if I'd had sound for these channels, I still would not have watched them. Instead, I watched ITV and C5 soaps online through my smartphone using the free wifi provided at the hotel. The wifi worked well most of the time, however I did occasionally lose connection. On the whole though, it was very good. A kettle was provided in my room, along with two mugs, coffee and sugar. I can't recall if there was sweetener, creamer, tea and hot chocolate as I did not actually use this facility, but I recall seeing coffee and sugar when I looked in the little basket by the kettle which contained those items. Milk was not provided, however a fridge is provided in the room so you can keep your own milk, or you may decide to pack little UHT pots. Biscuits weren't provided, so you may also like to pack those in your suitcase if you like a biscuit with your cuppa. A complimentary bottle of water is provided in the fridge upon arrival, and you can ask for a mini bar to be provided if you wish.
The room was en suite and had both a bath and a shower for choice. The bathroom was roomy, and included a hairdryer, a plentiful supply of towels, 2-in-1 shampoo and conditioner, body lotion, shower cap and shower gel. A face cloth was not provided, so you'll need to bring your own.
There was a wardrobe in the bedroom with coat hangers and extra bedding, and a safe was also in the bedroom which was free to use and easy to set.
The staff were very friendly and helpful at the hotel and I felt well looked after. I found them to be accomodating - I wasn't well during my stay and didn't have an appetite, and certainly couldn't manage a 3 course meal (they provided this at the hotel for our coach group for 20 Euros). I went down to the restaurant on our second night (we arrived to late for a meal the first night) and told them I was unable to manage a 3 course meal as I wasn't well, and couldn't even manage a main meal. They kindly offered to make me an omelette, which was not on their menu. It was enough for me that night. I would have had the soup starter had I not been afraid that that particular soup would upset my stomach, so I was very grateful to be offered a plain omelette. I only felt like drinking water, and asked for tap water. They do not provide tap water, however you can pay for a glass of water, which I assume is bottled water. This coast around 2.50 euros.
I couldn't manage breakfast either, however, on the third morning, upon the advice of a fellow passenger, I decided to try some yoghurt. I nipped into the breakfast room just before our coach was due to leave and saw that although they did yoghurt, they didn't do pots of yoghurt. I asked if they had any pots of yoghurt, and they kindly gave me a pot that they usually include in packed lunches, along with a plastic spoon to eat it with.
At one point, I did consider seeing a doctor out there, and they were very helpful with their advice
The hotel is in a very good location - it's within a convenient travelling distance to Amsterdam, The Hague and Keukenhof. The hotel itself is located a little outside the town of Zevenbergen, but it's only a short walk into town where you'll have all the facilities such as restaurants and shops. It's 1km to town. The hotel is in a quiet location which will ensure you get a peaceful night's sleep. I was not disturbed by noise at all - not from traffic or other guests. I couldn't hear any guests in the room next door, or above me, or any noise from the bar/reception area below me. Very peaceful indeed.
One thing you do need to be aware of - this hotel does NOT accept card payments. It's cash ONLY, so make sure you take plenty of Euros with you, especially if you plan on eating and drinking here.
Would certainly recommend and stay here again.
