« A pleasant surprise »

Recently opened 4 stories hotel located minutes from the Cotonou airport and right in front of the American Embassy. 6 months open, rooms are quite nice, internet works all the time, restaurant's menu could have a few more items

« A very nice place to stay, but a few small issues (no gym!) »

I recently stayed at the Golden Tulip for 7+ nights. There are some pros and cons, but when you consider that they just opened in June 2017 or so, it's understandable that there might be a few issues. Pros: it’s the nicest hotel in Cotonou. Rooms are nice, clean and well laid out. Internet is relatively fast and reliable. It’s a 20 min walk to the Erevan supermarche, which isn’t bad during the cooler, rainy season. Room service is quick. Staff are for the most part very friendly. The breakfast buffet is extensive and good. Pool is clean and a good size. For security, I like that you need a key to take the elevator. It’s close to the restaurants on rue Amalco/Haie vive. Cons: No gym, and I'm not sure when it will exist. This will determine if I will stay there in the future. The bed, although brand new, was already sagging and uncomfortable. Not sure how many people have slept on it already! Some of the food items are expensive for what you get, and some of the room service items are not available (I was never able to order a pizza – I tried 3 times over a week). My nicoise salad cost 8000 CFA and had no tuna on it, and was small (even though I ordered the Large). The checkout process took a long time due to some confusion by the person at reception. No towels at pool, but that’s a small thing that could easily be fixed. The TV in my room never worked, although that never bothered me since I used netflix to watch shows. Overall, much better than the Azalai where I've stayed in the past. More than likely I'll stay there again, but I hope they can fix the small problems.
