We arrived home yesterday after spending one week at Golden Tulip. The resort is beautiful and seemed to have a very modern design in comparison to other hotel entrances near by. The service we received at this hotel was outstanding - everyone was so happy and kind. The buffet was good, although the taste was a little bland which is what we expected in Cuba. The breakfast buffet was our favourite - the omelette bar was great. Lunch buffet was very similar to dinner - they have someone bbq'ing meats as well! The snack bar was okay, although they ran out of pizza most days which seemed the most appealing on their menu. The rooms were very clean - we read previous reviews that spoke of bug issues, however we experienced no bugs at all during our trip. The pool/beach was our favourite - it is a stunning layout with three different pools in the main area and a kids pool on the other side. I would recommend setting a towel down on a pool chair prior to breakfast early in the morning as the best spots/chairs seem to be taken quickly (there are so many chairs though there will always be some available). Entertainment was great - there was a show each night - we were never bored at all. We were able to see ballet, beach party, cuban hip hop, singing etc.... There are a number of excursions to choose from - we picked Scuba Diving which isn't listed in the hotel, however if you ask if they will provide you with information. The instructor comes to the hotel and they take you through the basics in the pool, then you get to go out that afternoon (or another later if you prefer) to do two open water dives. SO is a diver, and was impressed that they never went deeper than 20 feet with untrained people, so it's extremely safe and a great time! For 20 CUCs, one of the instructors recorded the dive on a go pro and gave us the memory stick to take home with a good number of good pics and video. The bus ride is 1.5 hours or so from the airport, but the guides on both trips were interesting and the countryside is incredibly beautiful. One negative of the resort is smokers are everywhere. They have "non smoking" tables in the lobby, but when people smoked there, the staff did nothing, often brought them ashtrays.

« Fantastic Cuban Holiday! »

After doing a lot of research on different resorts on Cuba, We chose The Golden Tulip based on all the positive reviews reviews and pictures of the gorgeous pools overlooking the gorgeous beach! I stayed with my husband and 8 year old son from February 7 to 14 and it exceeded almost all of my expectations. We stayed at a memories in Varadero a few years ago and this hotel is on a whole different level than memories altogether! Food was actually quite good and it was hot and they didn’t run out of food - I actually sometimes saw them replacing dishes on the buffets before they were even empty! The fresh omelettes and donuts at breakfast were amazing and the fresh meat and fish and pasta stations during dinner were fantastic as well. There was lots to choose from and they did change some of the dishes up from day to day as well. We only ate at the Italian a la Cart and it was not good... the fresh pasta was way better at the buffet and the pizzas in the snack bar and beach bar during the day were amazing! Our room was always nice and clean and the air worked great and we never ran out of hot water in the shower (hubby likes long hot showers) and the water pressure was better than i have at home! We requested a king bed and booked a garden view room, then requested a higher floor with ocean view as a preference and we got a nice room on the third floor of building 18 and the view in front was of the Children’s pool and to the side was the beautiful ocean!! Our room was always stocked and the man who did it every day was so nice and always asked what we wanted and how much when we saw him. Our bed was a true king and not two doubles - it wasn’t the most comfortable bed I’ve slept on but it wasn’t horrible we were able to sleep no problem but the pillows are pretty flat - the bed and pillows are the only things keeping me from giving a 5 star review as they could do with being upgraded, but hey after being in the sun all day we didn’t care! The grounds were very clean and beautiful and they worked so hard to clean everything up from the hurricane and you would never know they were ever hit by one at this resort! It was a fairly large resort but not too huge and there was always someone on a golf cart asking if you needed a ride around too. The pools were amazing! They were clean and only saw a few loose tiles. I loved how you could see the ocean from the pools this was absolutely amazing! The pool bar staff took very good care of us! The beach!! What can I say... this is what I wanted to go to Cuba for and this beach is the most beautiful beach I have ever seen!! You can go for a nice long walk in the beautiful soft white sand and just take in the scenery. There were many different shells to be found along the way which both me and my son enjoyed! The water was a bit choppy but so warm and clear and fun to play in! This resort has a large stretch of beach and There were tons of beach chairs and it didn’t matter what time of day you went down there was always chairs available! Service - the service was top notch at this resort and the best service I have had anywhere! There was always someone greeting you as soon as you walked into the buffets and they would seat you and bring drinks right away. In the lobby as soon as we sat someone was always there to take our order too. Every single employee we came across there always had a smile on and a warm welcome. The Cuban people are such beautiful people inside and out. We did tip quite a bit but never felt obligated to have to and we were always thanked for anything we left which was nice to see too! The people here work long hours and work hard for little money to make your vacation enjoyable so treat them well and take the time to get to know some of them! Overall this was an amazing holiday and I would totally recommend this hotel to anyone and it was an amazing value for what we paid. I am even considering a return to this property because we did enjoy it so much.

« Great Resort to stay at I loved it! »

I stayed at this resort in February of 2017 and loved it! The resort was clean and well kept, the rooms were cozy and clean The food at the buffet was decent and usually fresh or not sitting for long. We had a server named Andy who was amazing and treated you like Family every time you went in! The A la cart restaurants were Fantastic although the portion sized I found to be huge so it looked like I barely touched them by the time I was full. The beach on the resort was amazing and so were the bar and food areas on the beach. The pool was a spectacular 3 tier pool with great view of the ocean. Would definitely recommend this resort!
