« Very good hotel, food was ok »

I stayed for three nights in this hotel and I was very happy with my stay. Hotel is huge, very clean, good service, very good pool, I like the design and atmosphere. I only found breakfast to be less than average for a 5 star hotel in terms of verity of food selection, and I was also annoyed by waiters talking loudly to each others right next to me and staring at me from time to time.

The hotel makes a great effort to present itself as a normal 4/5 star hotel you would find in any major city in the world. It is not. All facilities are closed but the hotel weight room. I was told I would be transported to and from the armored car at a cost of $200 USD each way. I was not. In both cases, with no advance notice, a soft-sided vehicle was substituted with no adjustment to price. My choice was to sit at the airport / miss my flight or accept the substitution. All advertised restaurants were closed except a single buffet at a cost of ~$45 usd per meal. They required that I pre-pay the room. Under these circumstances I chose to use a credit card so I could hold on to my cash. When I went to check out an "other income" fee of $123.33 was assessed to my account for use of a credit card - this for a 2 night stay. I had no choice but to pay this if I wanted to be brought back to the airport. If fairness to the hotel when I stayed there were only a handful of guests. Only a senior government officials could get a reservation. When I called directly I was told the hotel was fully booked. The hotel is quite a lovely facility, and may have been nice at a different time. The location is remarkably good if you are dealing with Government Officials. Security is very tight, and the hotel is surrounded by the protective bubble of the Green Zone. Leave a lot of extra time for the return trip to the airport. Security checks added about an hour for me. If you were not in a vehicle marked for VIPs I could no estimate the time that would be required.

« A golden bubble »

Many foreign workers have no choice but to stay at this hotel for security reasons. So it has become a golden bubble where everything is luxurious and service is good but so disconnected from the real world. Prices are over the roof, but what choice do you have when you are in town for a couple of days and are not allowed to leave the green zone? Everything within the green zone area is too expensive because there's no real competition. As one of the fellow reviewers has pointed out, it's lifeless.

Good looking hotel and helpful staff. I haven't tried the food but my impression is probably okay but expensive. Various service such as a really good barber. The music at the swimming pool is usually not that loud. Wifi works from time to time!

Because of the administration are from the holy city of Najaf which hold the holy shrine of Imam Ali , and because Islamist party are controlling power which makes administration sacrifice three stars of the most luxurious hotel in iraq , once before it's had so many restaurants , bars , night clubs and open night barbecue , but unfortunately gone . For security concerns it's the best in Baghdad if Grantee a help to get in and out the fortified IZ . My best friends Hajs Nasir , Fhadil and Hussein even all that's you are the most lovely hotels owners and mangers
