« Comfortable hotel with welcoming and professional staff »

The hotel staff were great. I received prompt email responses to my queries regarding airport pick up after booking and the staff (including the hotel driver) were helpful and supportive when our arrival was delayed due to flight issues. Despite the late hour, we had a lovely welcome with hot towels and welcome drinks. The concierge went out of his way to help us set up a local SIM. The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. The bed and shower were great. Breakfast had a good range of choice. Bizarrely, there were cards in the rooms advertising a complimentary fruit basket but no fruits on any of the two days we were there.

We stayed for two nights on 21st and 22nd september 2017. We booked on phone with Mr Francis. The reservation on phone is efficient although the staff sounded detached. This is a semi- luxury property. On arrival at the gate our taxi went through a thorough security check. Very commendable given the terrorist threats. We felt very secure as we went through another machine detector at the main door. I liked the reception staff. Very informed and fast check in. plus warm face towel and welcome glass of cold juice. The concierge young man is the most cheerful. He talked to us as he assisted us with our luggage to our Standard room 505. This is the first 4* hotel I have been to that has all services accessed through an electronic card. You will not operate the lifts without your room card! Security cameras are everywhere including inside the lifts. I personally like security and I was impressed by the investment the hotel has put in this area. While a standard room is small at 25 Sq meters, the design and the decor is well thought out. The rain shower room is separate from the toilet, a very modern thinking. The queen size bed is firm and the lighting set up in the room is almost excessive at about 10 light points including inside the wardrobe! Very clear international and local TV channels reception. The shower water is hot throughout with a mixer for comfortable bath. Surprisingly we discovered that the hotel supplies a shoe mitt, a pair of toothbrushes and tooth paste in addition to other toiletries. We had carried our own supplies. We were on a bed and breakfast account and the choice is wide and satisfying. You may not need to take lunch thereafter. The location is surrounded by restaurants with all types of cuisine should you wish to dine out as we chose to. But no walking. Call the hotel taxi or uber. But(in small letters) the split unit Air conditioner does not work. Although we reported it nothing was done. The reception told me it was attended to. But No. Nairobi is currently hot and especially with the design of room 505 the heat was uncomfortable and we had to take several showers to keep cool. Check out is at 12 noon. How convenient for me since I wake up late on Saturdays! Check out is fast with a smile. They only wanted to know if we had used anything in the room mini bar. They took my word and did not tell us to wait for them to confirm. Such a trust is what will make me go back again this November to Royal tulip. I still remember the same concierge young man escorting us out to the taxi with a Smile! I recommend Royal Tulip Cannan if you are coming to or through Nairobi, Kenya.
