« Very beautiful hotel in Ermelo »

I have stayed at the Golden Tulip in Ermelo more times than I can count. It is a truly unique hotel with a beautiful exterior and interior. The highlights are definitely the pool and fitness area, but their breakfast is also quite impressive. The hotel can be reached with a quick bike ride from Ermelo or Harderwijk and is located in a beautiful area that is perfect for walks in the woods. If the weather allows it, you can enjoy the large terrace overlooking a fountain. Overall, the hotel makes for a very pleasant and relaxing experience.

« Could've been amazing »

This hotel has the possibility to be a great hotel, unfortunately it is merely alright. On one hand the rooms are small (window even smaller) and the bathroom is very limited, but on the other hand the breakfast was very good and the swimming pool and sauna facilities are great. Feels like there are many discount-website guest to keep occupancy high, which might put extra stress on employees which results in limited personal attention.

« High Expecation ended up be Very Disappointed »

Booked an expensive suite deal over a well known Dutch booking for a 3 day/2 night stay, turned out to be a flop. Arriving a bit early for check in, we were told off, come back to the official check in time and pointed out of the hotel. Returned and checked in for the first suite, in a dark location. Suite average, room safe loose on the cabinet shelf. Asked for second suite, without any help in relocation, just handed in the room key. The suite was mouldy too, the furniture was spotted, the bathroom small, just with a few simple amenities. Safe mounted against the wall on the lowest shelf. One has to be in a good condition to open and close the safe. Indoor pool area, big, but overpowering in chloride smell. The pool had only a few deck chairs, eerie to say the least. Sauna and hammad area available but only to enter naked as per hotel policy!!! Dinner was the highlight, good food and service. Breakfast buffet is fine, but stay only when there is an hotel conference on, because the buffet change accordingly to the offer. Golden Tulip be an international chain, has to start to publish all the the inhouse reading materials and directional signs in other languages such as English, not only in Dutch. On a final note, please train your staff to be more polite.

« Good setting and facilities, grand public areas but very spartan, disappointing bedrooms »

We stayed two nights in mid December and were very pleased with the overall atmosphere of the hotel. It has a nice setting, spacious gardens comfortable and cosy dining rooms and satisfactory food quality. Also excellent wellness facilities. The bedrooms though were very disappointing. Cheaply and poorly furnished, noisy low quality wood flooring. Frankly I have stayed in youth hostels with more upmarket sleeping quarters. Because of these we would not return to this hotel nor indeed recommend it other travellers. Grand public spaces are not matched by the quality of the bedrooms and bathrooms.

« Cheap and pennywise rooms »

Stayed here with my mum and wanted to spoil her - so asked for the best rooms. I got the bridal suite, mum the tower suite. In that tower suite there was only a free standing bath tub, not a walk-in shower. How could a 75 year old lady get into and out of that tub? Reception ladies did not figure that part out - so in the end my mum showered at the swimming pool. I had the bridal suite - nice jacuzzi inside the room - but cheaply furnished with no luxury soap or bath salt, only an attached refillable bath-and-hair-soap. Nice large bed - but only 2 tiny pillows on it. Nice shower, but also there only the attached refillable bath-and-hair-soap. No conditioner, no bodymilk, no cotton buds, nothing else as amenities than that combi-soap. Nice food in the restaurant, friendly staff. Not much choice in wines, but all are by the glass.
