« Excellent Hotel with lovely staff and a certain charm. »

Just returned from a trip to Bahrain for the Grand Prix. Our stay at the hotel was excellent. Fortunate enough to have a suite which was an absolute luxury. We were two female travellers and we were treated the like princess's. Abdul Rahim Al Sayed(the General Manager) and his staff are excellent. They take care to ensure that you are completely happy. Abdul is ever present and approachable and ensures that his guests are having an excellent stay. Staff are lovely and extremely helpful. You can always find a friendly face willing to help and point you in the right direction. Nothing seems to much trouble. Breakfast was lovely and lots of choice. The Friday Lunchtime Buffet is absolutely excellent and has a lovely atmosphere with an excellent array of delicious foods. I would highly recommend this lovely hotel and can not thank Abdul and all his staff for making our stay so wonderful.

« A pleasant visit »

We visited the hotel as part of a package for the Bahrain GP. Check in took a good 45 minutes even though there was only one person in front of us as the receptionist was continually answering the phone. Our room was a good size with a very comfortable (firm) bed but did smell quite strongly of cigarette smoke. There was also an interconnecting door to the adjoining room which it was not possible to lock from our side (so therefore no reassurance that the room was secure). The air-conditioning was effective, if a little noisy and the bathroom was clean with complimentary toiletries, but was missing towels - when this was reported to reception we were met with some eye rolling and an eventual call to housekeeping, but still no towels until we mentioned it again the following morning. Breakfast was good and plentiful, and the food in the main buffet restaurant was tasty and reasonably priced. The bar was very smokey, but it was possible to order drinks from the outside pool area, where the waiter was very friendly and attentive. Overall it was pleasant visit and I would be happy to return to the hotel again. In European terms, no this probably isn't a 5 start hotel and to be honest we didn't expect it to be, but it certainly isn't as bad as some of the earlier reviews make out.

« Good Value & excellent Japanese Restaurant »

3rd time I have stayed at the Golden Tulip and again it was a good stay. Reception staff were very helpful and I had a good room. The Japanese Restaurant is consistently good quality and one I look forward to visiting. I enjoy the Sports Bar but I wish there was control on the Smoking which spoils it for me. However overall I would recommend this Hotel.
