Golden Tulip Alkmaar, un hotel de 4 estrellas en Alkmaar

Habitaciones/Alojamientos

Located less than 10 kilometres from the Noord-Holland coast and on the edge of the historic cheese town itself, the Golden Tulip Alkmaar is a 4 star hotel with 76 rooms. The neo-classical building was opened as a hotel in 2001 and is decorated with paintings from local Alkmaar artists. There is a hotel bar, an onsite Oriental restaurant and a coffee shop for hungry guests returning from a day at the beach.

The 76 rooms at the Golden Tulip Alkmaar are all equipped with telephones, pay TV, a safe as well as air-conditioning, and bathrooms have bathtubs and hairdryers. Wi-Fi is available in the 4 star rooms and the hotel offers room service, too. Accommodation types range from Standard to Superior, with the option of a Queen bed or two singles.

A 24-hour reception means that check-in doesn't have to be before a certain time and if guests need help accessing the Wi-Fi in the middle of the night, there will always be someone on hand. Six conference rooms will appeal to business travellers and a bar, lounge and Oriental restaurant mean guests don't have to go far if they're looking for a great hotel in Alkmaar. For those seeking some time-out, there's a sauna and a beauty salon in the hotel too.

The Golden Tulip Alkmaar is a short distance from the beach and sand dunes, and located on the edge of Alkmaar, a town famed for its cheese market. Whether it's a cultural day out or some sunbathing and swimming, there's something in the immediate surroundings for everyone. The hotel is also on the end of the highway from Amsterdam and the airport, making for easy access if arriving by air and for day-trips.

« Pleasant hotel, slightly out of the way »

A very pleasant hotel, staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms are a good size and clean and tidy with comfortable bed. Breakfast was average but OK with a reasonable selection of items. Had dinner in the restaurant which was very good and reasonably priced. Only drawback for me was the hotel is a good half hour walk from the town centre.

Stayed here for a weekend before I flew out of Schiphol Airport. The hotel is very accessible as it is almost right off the A9 highway. Service is very warm, welcoming and friendly. Made use of the breakfast option and found the food and the variety of options great. Free parking and a gas station across the road are also nice. And there were a handful of restaurants at the hotel premises but unfortunately we did not have time to try them. The only minor gripe I had with this hotel was that we could not figure out how to turn off the ceiling light without also turning off the fan. Since it was a hot summer weekend, we decided to leave the light on so the fan would stay on. Also, the bathroom light works based on sensors which is great, but remained on a little too long for my eco-conscious mind. Nonetheless, if you are looking for a hotel in Alkmaar or something close to Schiphol Airport (20 - 30 minute drive) you can't go wrong with this one. Recommended !

« A very welcoming and good quality hotel. »

For drivers, the Golden Tulip is ideally situated on the outskirts of town and has plenty of parking. Various people quote that it is a 20 minute walk to town, and it is. You should note however that 20 minutes is based on a good, steady pace, and gets you to the edge of the city centre. To get to the heart of the city will take you another 5-10 minutes. We arrived at the hotel a little earlier than the 2 o’clock check in time and were met by a charming young lady on reception, who checked us in and gave us all the information we needed re the hotel and the directions to town etc. She also stopped me a little later, simply to ask if our room was alright. What splendid service. Our second floor room was very nice. It was large, nicely decorated, well furnished and well appointed, with everything you would need and expect, including a safe -but could management note that having the safe on the floor of the wardrobe is very unkind to people with old knees! Far better to have it in a higher position. And for British travellers - I can happily report that our room also had a kettle and tea and coffee sachets. We had breakfast during our stay and it was very good, with the usual selection of fruits and cereals, cold meats and cheeses, breads, pastries etc augmented by bacon and eggs. In short, this is an excellent hotel and the service throughout our stay was friendly and helpful. We would certainly stay here again and highly recommend it.
