Last month my wife and family took a family vacation to Rio. We were delayed for six hours due to the hurricanes in the Atlantic Ocean. The airport in Miami was closed so we were treated to a long lay over in JFK. As it turned out we did get into Rio When we got to the Golden Tulip Hotel we were warmly greeted by the staff and their hospitality was evident. My family and I had a marvelous stay.The rooms were inviting. Every day a sumptuous breakfast was served. The amount of food was enormous. What a wonderful way to begin a day in Rio. I want to thank the administration and staff at the Golden Tulip Hotel for a magnificent holiday. I cannot say thank you enough to the Golden Tulip.

I've enjoyed staying at the Golden Tulip Ipanema very much. The service is excellent, the security makes things very safe and the rooms are quiet and comfortable. I have stayed here for 10 days and it feels like home. Each day I get information about the places I would like to visit from the front desk. Luckily there are a few employees that speak English (Hannah and one other woman with glasses). They have shared their favorite restaurants and other events, are always pleasant and have helped to make my stay an enjoyable experience. The bell man who works in the mornings is also friendly and helpful. The pool is refreshing and although crowded at times the helpers usually find me a space. The room/bar upstairs is also very comfortable and is large enough to hold musical events which would be a plus. The view is amazing and I enjoy it each day. A great place and close to many good restaurants and clubs.

This is a good hotel, great location. The staff at the front desk could be a bit friendlier and less robotic. They could also DEFINITELY explain things more clearly upon arrival. I prepaid for the entire stay yet was hit with a tax charge when checking out. This was not explained to me upon arrival. Any decent hotel would do so, especially if they allow bookings through third party companies. It leaves a bad taste in one's mouth when leaving and that is the last thing a good hotel wants their guests to have. Unpleasant excuses ("it wasn't me") are also a turn off. The charge should have been excluded in my opinion. Other than that, the hotel is fine.
