I visited this beautiful hotel in January for my wife's birthday. It was the best decision. Their manager Yustine was very friendly, cooperative and helpful. She set up a lovely dinner table by the pool and ocean and also went one step ahead by providing a complementary cake. Staff were very friendly, superb room and the best view! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL. ps. Their sea food platter is to die for! Yumm.

« Wonderful place to stay at a wonderful place. »

This hotel is just next to the sea so the best choice would be to book a ocean view room. The hotel is well maintained, staffs are very friendly and they take things responsibly and correct things that we tell then that something was not up-to expectations. The rooms are mostly dim-light to support the relaxing mood by the side of the sea and features mostly light colored props. for clothing and paintings except for the furniture's. They have a wonderful sea facing pool of quite good depth. On the 5th floor is their Dhow Restaurant which offers you a wonderful Breakfast to you and good choice of Zanzibar and continental cuisine and the restaurant is an ocean view one too. However if you are an Indian Origin visitor which i was - you have very less options and they do not have an Indian / Asian chef which might be the reason there are less Asian guests. Added to that the food is bit pricey comparatively which makes it a choice to have food from stone town and just use the hotel for stay. My tour operators (not the one sitting at hotel as they are expensive this is a different one) cab charges one way was $8 due to the fact i took a tour package too from the same operator. However otherwise you will have to shell out $10(anything more is overcharging) from Stone town to the hotel. The location is also strategic, 10 minutes from the Spice Gardens, 10 Minutes from the Stone Town & Ferry Terminal and i believe its 15 - 20 minutes from airport as airport will be after stone town. Also most of the Holiday seasons are fully booked back to back so no early check in or late checkout so you will spend time in lobby in case you reach early or plan to leave late. So in short Pros: * Good Location not very far from stone town. * Well Maintained Hotel with wonderful pool. * Good Staffs with positive attitude. * Good Breakfast Buffet in morning which is free. Cons: * Food is bit expensive. * No Indian Food's / Chef. * Most of the Holiday seasons are fully booked back to back so no early check-in or late checkout.

« Quiet hotel and helpful staff »

The hotel was clean and tidy, except there were mosquitos in the room. My room was spacious but facing the main street hence there was noise and boring view. The restaurant was a bit boring - no alcohol but the food and breakfast were decent. Staff are super friendly and helpful! There is a mini swimming pool, the beach is not accessible. The hotel is located far from any touristic attractions: 20 minutes by taxi to Stone Town (20 usd one way) and 1 hour to Nungwi. You can book the taxi to get around by the travelling agency at the hotel. The excursion packages are a bit more expensive than other agency, hence do some research on the package and price before booking.

« Great hotel and lovely stay »

Excellent hotel and very friendly staff who are only to happy to help if you need info or to sort out any problems we even got a fresh glass of juice oin our arrival. The breakfast was good though would have been good if there was a little more variety, the food in the in the restaurants was great. The hotel is located in a great location close to many amenities and places to visit. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Stayed two nights in this hotel. Word of warning when getting a taxi to the hotel make sure you tell them its the golden tulip resort and not the boutique. The taxi people know it as the golden tulip out of town hotel. Taxi should not cost more than 15,000. if they ask for more walk away and they will sure call you back. We booked a sea view suite which had ample room and an amazing sea view. The resort is around 15 mins from stone town. Its situated on the main road so plenty of Dalla Dallas (local buses) going past. you can hope into one of these to get to the city for a mere 500 shillings. All in all was a good stay and would recommend.
