« Great Place, Nice Staff »

I was in Zanzibar with a couple of friends. They were staying at this place and I was staying at Ngalawa. I came for a visit and I liked the place. Didn't have enough nights in Stonetown, otherwise I could have moved in there. Pretty nice place, with very friendly staff.

« Great Service, Nice Hotel »

To be honest when we booked on Expedia I wasnt sure what to expect. But when we arrived I was so impressed. Very nice rooms, great CHICKEN WINGS, the best I have had in a long time. And when we asked the reception for the cost of an upgrade they gave us a complementary upgrade to a deluxe suite for our honeymoon. Beds are comfortable and very clean, great proximity to the ferry to Dar Es Salaam....walking distance to great places to listen to music. I would totally recommend this hotel

« Reasonably priced hotel in central location »

The best aspect of this hotel is the very central location. Only a few minutes walk from the arrival spot of the ferry that comes in from Dar es Salaam. Nice breakfast on the rooftop. The rooms are ok, but nothing outstanding. A few little things didn't work properly in the room, but the hotel staff was friendly and quick to respond and fix the issues.

« So positive impressions about this lovely hotel »

Our family ended up at this hotel by a coincidence (we had a reservation to another hotel in Stone Town, but our agency back home had booked wrongly) So when we arrived , we were a bit unhappy. BUT, we ended up being so satisfied:) Rooms were great with lovely beds, and the bathroom was clean. The roof top restaurant was so lovely - we enjoyed the sunset with a freshly made passion fruit juice (no alcohol in the hotel) and the restaurant was really good (also the breakfastbuffe ) and quite cheap. The staff ,both cleaning, reception, and in the restaurant, were smiling, serviceminded and helpful. We enjoyed the pool as well. (a sign for the tourists about "please use the shower before entering the pool" would be great). The hotel is located close to the harbour and 10 minutes walking to several restaurants.. We can only recomend this hotel to everybody going to Stone Town. We will be back:)

« A night in Stonetown »

The Golden Tulip is perfectly located should you wish to take a boat across to Prison Island and visit the Giant Turtles. Also very well located for exploring Stonetown's markets. The rooms were decent - though the hot water in the shower didn't last too long. Unfortunately, the room service closed over half an hour ahead of schedule - however as we had leave to head to the airport early in the morning, the front desk was kind enough to arrange a breakfast to-go waiting for us upon check out.
