« A secluded relaxing Dutch hotel »

Nice, low-rise hotel in woodland area. Staying on business, there was not enough time to explore all on offer, but the evening set meal, (Mackerel tapas starter, Pan fried Salmon and sweet) was all well presented and delicious as was the self-service style breakfast selection. The rooms were located on either the 1st or ground floor. Room 015 was MASSIVE, compared with similar hotels, and offered all the usual amenities, (TV, En-suite bath AND shower etc). Well done Tjaarda Oranjewoud, I look forward to a longer visit next time.

« Nice hotel but some bad points »

The rooms are lovely and clean and the hotel is in a beautiful setting. I only chose this hotel because it had a swimming pool and sauna with steam room etc. After a lovely first day and a long one at that, we arrived at the hotel unpacked and decided to go for some drinks in the bar. I only ordered 1 beer, 1 low alcohol beer, a sprite and a cup of tea. I also asked for a carton of milk for the room and was shocked and disappointed when the barman said €24 wow! So I said nothing and handed over €25 and received 50 cents change! I spent over the 5 days in Friesland over €1000 on dining out trips presents etc. But guess what I never bought another drink in that bar, and neither did any of the other members of our party. This was just on principle of that first night on getting those drinks. Also one last point, after having a lovely swim in the pool we all decided to have a sauna. I was not happy when all off my party were chatting and enjoying the sauna for one of the staff coming in and saying we had to be naked! To use these facilities... So we never used these facilities again. I also thought what a rule to have seeing how young adults or kids may even use them... Anyway the hotel is lovely but that's what my gripes were on my visit. So really they lost out on €100's in drinks and meals we where going to have.
