The world may well have changed, but hotels have not. At the Golden Tulip Marseille Euromed, we have reinvented the travel experience by going back to basics, with entertainment, a wide range of services, working facilities and one or two surprises. Have we managed to pique your interest? We cannot help but share a little bit more with you, so let’s get right to it!

The outdated, former standards of the hotel industry have now become really great basics upon which to build!

• Because we want to make sure you are looked after and that you don’t waste any time, we are located at the Docks, at the heart of new Marseilles, with our feet dipped in the water
• Here we don’t make a fuss – you are the boss and that is final. So if you want to check in while lounging on a couch or to simply reorganise the furniture in the lobby, you have the keys to the castle
• Tired after your (very long) journey or just a little lethargic? Your welcome is accompanied by our secret little ritual - a refreshing local lemonade
• Because being offline is no longer an option, we offer high-speed Wi-Fi access (and promise that we will not find a reason to charge you for the service)
• Hunger can creep up on you so quickly, and we will be on hand to remedy this, whether you are a veggie addict, a connoisseur of fine food or a champion at guzzling down burgers.
• The restaurant, the lounge space, the bar and the terrace are available for your business lunches, your meetings, for a nap or a spot to capture a few selfies (or a combination of the above)

Why go to a hotel only for it to feel like you are still at home? We want to take you on a veritable journey:

• Upon you arrival, you are welcomed by a building designed by architect Massimiliano Fuksas. Between you and me, it is often the case that the clothes make the man.
• In order to celebrate Marseilles, the capital city of street art, a mural by local artist Remy Uno extends the street into the lobby.
• And if you have a few minutes between a call and a presentation, take a tandem and visit the Joliette district.

We have also rethought our use of space, as nowadays people play in the office and work by the pool:

• “Where’s the lobby?” Our foyer serves as an extension of the streets of Marseilles, with a check-in that is, to say the least, check-in, a little off the wall…
• “Is this the way to the rooftop party?” It is difficult to tear yourself away to that business dinner when you’re on the rooftop sipping a pastis beneath the lemon tree… . You’ll be the envy of the town.
• “Is there somewhere to chill out?” Discover a lounge space that you can adapt to suit your needs, for a brainstorming session regarding the future of bowls or a conference call to Mars.
• “What is there to eat?” Given that you are only 5 minutes from the Mediterranean, it would be a shame to miss out on the Southern French cuisine concocted by our two chefs. The food is good and healthy and there is plenty of it on your plate.

« Friendly and efficient staff »

We stay 3 nights with a small group following the tour of France. The staff of the hotel were really magnificent providing a room to keep the bikes. Excellent breakfast, dinner and rooms. Good location ..quiet, parking and a shopping mall with restaurants very close by. And the best dinner we had n Marseille was in the hotel.

« Good hotel in the renovated docks area »

We stayed one night for a meeting. The hotel is modern and well furnished. The rooms are adequate in size, but not very big. They are clean and comfortable. Lunch in the restaurant was good, as was breakfast but the service was a bit slow. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful (and also spoke excellent English). The meeting facilities were good, but the refreshment service didn't work well. Very good choice for the area.

« Lovely modern design and super-friendly staff »

As soon as you walk into the lobby you realise the hotel has a sense of style about it. Modern with a gigantic tv screen (on which I confess I did watch some football while sitting in massive super-funky armchairs) and a reception area with interesting murals as their backdrop. All the staff wear casual maritime theme uniforms - the hotel is next to the docks - and this helps create an atmosphere without any of the formality and stiffness you often find in hotels. We found them all to be super-friendly and helpful - we asked if we could change from a twin bed room (which was on our booking) to a double and whilst it wasn't possible the first night of our week's stay, they made it very easy for us to swap the next day. We had a bit of an incident on the Metro in which I had my wallet pickpocketed and again, the staff were very helpful in ringing the transport authorities on our behalf - twice. Breakfasts were excellent, with a wide range of fresh fruits, different breads and croissants etc, as well as some cooked options (NB you can ask for fried eggs or omelettes instead of the scrambled eggs in the buffet, which I hadn't clocked at first). Room was comfortable with bath and shower and a sea view - note that the windows don't open, although the aircon works really well in the background. TV seemed to be only French stations and there was just the one BBC English radio station available. Location of hotel, whilst not in the centre exactly, was good in that it was easy to get to by tram or Metro, or indeed on foot from the Old Port (15 minute walk). The immediate area has a stylish shopping area called The Docks - brilliant adaptation of an old building - as well as a modern shopping mall with a dockside terrace with restaurants, Also there is a Marseille bike scheme station across the road from the hotel and this is well worth signing up to. It cost us just 1 euro for a 7 day period and you can take a bike for up to 30 minutes at a time for free (or it charges you 1 euro per hour after that I believe). Signing up is easy and they email you a code which you can use straightaway. Be careful to put the bike back so that you hear two beeps otherwise you'll get charged! Hotel also has a lovely terrace with awnings that they can pull across when it gets too hot. You can also pop into the indoor pool to cool off of course! And we liked the boules area - reception provides the boules free (you leave a credit card deposit). WE HAD A GREAT STAY AND WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL. Things to make it even better? Bigger softer towels, a second soap dispenser so that you can reach it when you're having a bath (!), a soap dispenser in the shower/toilets by the pool, and the same softer toilet paper in the rooms that they use in the ground floor toilets! Tiny things, and there are often these small improvements that can be made when a hotel is only in its first year. Congratulations to the design team and the staff for getting so much right already . . . . !

« Marseille City Break »

Not pretty from the outside but bright modern hotel with comfortable rooms and a nice pool area and terrace. The location is good within a short stroll of the lovely streets of the Panier area and the beautiful old harbour. The nearby Les Docks is is a stunning building with interesting shops and places to eat and drink. I would also recommend Les Halles de la Major a 10-15 minute walk away. The only reason to mark this hotel down is the service was sometimes erratic in the bar area. You had a wait a good while before anyone acknowledged or served you. I would still recommend and would not hesitate to stay again,
