The world may well have changed, but hotels have not. At the Golden Tulip Marseille Euromed, we have reinvented the travel experience by going back to basics, with entertainment, a wide range of services, working facilities and one or two surprises. Have we managed to pique your interest? We cannot help but share a little bit more with you, so let’s get right to it!

The outdated, former standards of the hotel industry have now become really great basics upon which to build!

• Because we want to make sure you are looked after and that you don’t waste any time, we are located at the Docks, at the heart of new Marseilles, with our feet dipped in the water
• Here we don’t make a fuss – you are the boss and that is final. So if you want to check in while lounging on a couch or to simply reorganise the furniture in the lobby, you have the keys to the castle
• Tired after your (very long) journey or just a little lethargic? Your welcome is accompanied by our secret little ritual - a refreshing local lemonade
• Because being offline is no longer an option, we offer high-speed Wi-Fi access (and promise that we will not find a reason to charge you for the service)
• Hunger can creep up on you so quickly, and we will be on hand to remedy this, whether you are a veggie addict, a connoisseur of fine food or a champion at guzzling down burgers.
• The restaurant, the lounge space, the bar and the terrace are available for your business lunches, your meetings, for a nap or a spot to capture a few selfies (or a combination of the above)

Why go to a hotel only for it to feel like you are still at home? We want to take you on a veritable journey:

• Upon you arrival, you are welcomed by a building designed by architect Massimiliano Fuksas. Between you and me, it is often the case that the clothes make the man.
• In order to celebrate Marseilles, the capital city of street art, a mural by local artist Remy Uno extends the street into the lobby.
• And if you have a few minutes between a call and a presentation, take a tandem and visit the Joliette district.

We have also rethought our use of space, as nowadays people play in the office and work by the pool:

• “Where’s the lobby?” Our foyer serves as an extension of the streets of Marseilles, with a check-in that is, to say the least, check-in, a little off the wall…
• “Is this the way to the rooftop party?” It is difficult to tear yourself away to that business dinner when you’re on the rooftop sipping a pastis beneath the lemon tree… . You’ll be the envy of the town.
• “Is there somewhere to chill out?” Discover a lounge space that you can adapt to suit your needs, for a brainstorming session regarding the future of bowls or a conference call to Mars.
• “What is there to eat?” Given that you are only 5 minutes from the Mediterranean, it would be a shame to miss out on the Southern French cuisine concocted by our two chefs. The food is good and healthy and there is plenty of it on your plate.

« Excellent for a business trip »

What i liked about this is hotel is the swift check in and check out procedures. The rooms are big, very clean and silent. The breakfast buffet is super, with all you can possibly imagine, even though the lactose/gluten free choice could be improved. The hotel is some 20 mins walk from the old port, I guess this makes it suitable also for tourists, and the area around is brand new with a huge shopping mall at walking distance.

« Fresh and exciting! »

The Golden Tulip Marseille Euromed is located in the new “up and coming” part of town where the old docks used to be, just across the ferry line terminal. Many other hotels can also be found in this neighbourhood (Ibis/Novotel, NH Hotel etc). Check-in was swift, I got a voucher for a free (alcohol free) cocktail at the bar in the lobby. This offers reasonably priced drinks and snacks until 11PM (I had an excellent club sandwich there for €15, the free drink was also tasty by the way). In the lobby you will also find a choice of books and magazines, some brochures and a huge TV screen. I found prices for the restaurant rather high (around €27 for a main course). There is also a “food truck” located outside for burgers etc. Everything in this hotel (which opened only a few years ago) looks modern, fresh, the feeling is “sympa” with lots to look at everywhere. The light and spacious room had airco, a mini bar with 2 free bottles of water (Vittel 33 cl), coffee/tea maker, small flatscreen TV, a comfortable bed with nice linnens, a bedspread, reading lights, in room safe, storage (also for shoes) a separate WC and a walk in shower (with both a “rain” and normal showerhead), hairdryer, magnifying mirror, a soap dispenser (strangely: small bottles of shampoo etc can be found - per your request - at the reception!), lots of towels, slippers and a shoe spoon. The decoration was playful, modern yet tasteful. This is where Golden Tulip differs from other hotelchains. What more can you want? Wifi was free but rather slow and it needs registration every time you start up again. On the 2nd floor a swimming pool, fitness room and a sundeck can be found. Parking is nearby in the Euromed building at a reduced fee (be sure to ask for a “forfait” there, you then pay in advance and can come and leave as often as you wish - a real bonus in this busy city. You’d better take the well organised public transport to move around). Although the cosy “Vieux Port” may be a few miles away, there are many great shopping centres (Les Terasses du Port, Docks Village) nearby, 2 tramway lines, taxi stops, a metro (subway) too. Just next door is the Joliette theatre, across the busy street the ferry port (ships leaving for Corsica, the cruise ships leave further away). The room turned out to be well sound proofed but regrettably, very loud music coming from the “Terasses du Port” starting at 8PM could still be heard for many hours. Hopefully there is not a party going on there every night, otherwise you are warned! There was a large choice of products for breakfast but it could be better organised (coffee machines did not work, so I never got a second cup of coffee, there was not enough space to put your plate on the scrambled eggs/bacon desk, staff was nice but not always attentive). All in all, I enjoyed my stay here and would gladly give it 5 out of 5* if... there had not been the very loud (boom boom) disturbing music in the evening. Now I’ll give it a 4* rating which is still very good.

« Great location and service »

The room is a standard size for Europe. We had to change rooms because the first room did not have a bath. Ask for a room with a view - it is really great. The front desk staff were outstanding, very friendly, professional and helpful. Cannot say enough about them! The location is perfect. Within a very short walking distance, you will find shopping centers with food courts on the third floor and the tram is just a few steps from the hotel. The food in the hotel is OK, not bad but nothing really great, if you are tired and lazy and don't want to walk anywhere it is a good place to eat. Overall an excellent place and I would definitely stay there again.
