The large shuttle bus arrived as per the schedule and the pick up was smooth and orderly. The check-in took a bit longer than normal but they seemed to be sorting out an issue with another customer. Our room was as reserved. The shower is the star of the show here. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Our location was quiet. Bar/restaurant was staffed by friendly people. Food was good and the drinks were cold. Next morning, check out was impacted by the outage of their system. We settled with cash, a bit inconvenient but possible. Large shuttle was again, on time. We would be happy to stay here again.

To say the least I am not a fan of airport hotels and go out of my way to avoid them. Every now and then however the itinerary demands a night at these usually drab, emotionless establishments designed to give as little service as possible while plundering the unfortunate traveller to the max. My most recent experience was more positive - I was flying home to Adelaide from Brussels but due to a mixup had to change to Amsterdam. A quick search revealed the Tulip Inn which looked pleasant enough in the photographs and offered the obligatory shuttle service. I arrived at the airport by train, walked outside to an area designated for hotel pickups and waited. And waited. No Tulip bus. Eventually I asked a porter who pointed to a minibus at the end of the U driveway about 40 metres away. They go from over there I was told. Annoying to say the least. My spirits lifted upon arrival - this is a new property with reception and a bar plus plenty of seating in a large well lit open foyer. Check-in was quick (you book a return shuttle during check-in) and i was soon heading to room 008 on the ground floor. My room was quite large and sported a very dashing black and white theme. Impressive. The bathroom was also a good size with a walk-in shower (rain and hand held). I had a view of the street and aircraft hangers from large windows. There was a narrow desk with one power point, full length mirror plus chair and bedside tables. Reading lights were small. Bed looked and were very comfy, there was no tea/coffee facilities and the safe was on the floor which means you have to get on your knees to read the directions. There was a standard power point on both sides of the bed - why not international? They cost about the same. Also surprising for a new property, the shower water tends to run hot and cold. I enjoyed a few beers by the bar and headed to bed. Modern construction might be quick and economical but does not always suit hotels. Sound insulation was ordinary and every time the door closed next door i could feel the wall move behind the bed. Breakfast is fine - buffet style in the foyer. I took the 10.30am shuttle in the morning which we were told was the last - confusing to say the least. Concerned guests travelling on later flights were advised there was a public airport bus stop nearby. To conclude. Smart decor, nice big friendly well lit bar/lounge area in the foyer, helpful staff. I was worried about the reviews on the unreliable shuttle bus. However we couldn't have asked for a more punctual service. Large bus so all guests can fit on. Our flight was early so we got the 7.10am shuttle and we could have set our watch by it. Great service. Only con - maybe a little too far away from the airport even with the great shuttle service.

Friendly staff at the check-in and at breakfast the next day. The rooms were very quiet so it was possible to sleep through without disturbance The signage and information for the shuttle was not good at Schipol and it delayed me getting to the hotel.
