I arrived at the Golden Tulip with a healthy amount of skepticism around 10:00 a.m. in early January after an overnight flight from Newark. I was pleasantly surprised. The hotel is almost new and, while modest by U.S. standards, it has all the amenities one could want. And the price is right. I paid 56 Euros/night, which was probably the reason for my skepticism. My room was small, but clean and had everything I needed. The staff is multilingual, so language was not an issue. On the second night of my stay, a colleague and I were tired, so decided to have wine and appetizers at the bar. We asked the friendly young bartender if we could get a cheese plate to accompany our wine; he checked with the kitchen and served up an excellent cheese plate accompanied by some tasty bread. We spent a happy two hours at the bar (we were the only customers), drinking Spanish wines, eating cheese and bread, and learning about the local culture from the bartender. When the bill came, we were pleasantly surprised: several glasses of wine plus the cheese plate and a vodka martini for my colleague came to a modest 31 Euros. If I should return to Barcelona, I will try to stay at the Golden Tulip. Some people might find the neighborhood a bit of a turnoff. It is a neighborhood in transition and with Mercedes and Peugeot dealerships plus the Agbar Tower nearby, better things are in store.

The hotel and staff at the Golden Tulip, Barcelona, was excellent and it was a great value. The only issue that I had was that the room was too hot for sleeping and wouldn't get cooler. I requested that it be addressed but the second night was the same.

On arrival we were early to the hotel the staff were very friendly and offered us maps of the local cafes and bars and must see tourist spots. They pointed us in the direction of the train station to head into la rambla which was only a few minute walk away. Our room was not ready for another couple of hours but after heading to the bar we were called over and they had sorted a room we could go in to. The hotel and rooms were extremely modern and clean. And the cleaners came everyday whilst we were here. The only problem is they didn’t often replace the coffee and there is no milk so we bought our own from the shop and left in the mini bar fridge. You are given one bottle of water on arrival and again we bought some from the shop. All the staff were very professional and helpful especially the bar staff who I personally believe made our experience as pleasant as it was. Toni was the main bar man and he was on hand to answer any questions we had about the hotel and Barcelona itself he went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and to ensure we had a great trip! So thank you Toni. Tote was another brilliant bar man also very helpful and great at making cocktails!! We would visit this hotel again, it is slightly out of the city but you can get there very quickly on the train it is only 4 stops away. And also we downloaded ‘mytaxi’ app which was brilliant and you get loads of promo codes for first time use and if you recommend the app!

Stayed here for 4 days as a business user. I work in Barcelona so I thought I would try this hotel out. Everything was fine in the room except my shower. I asked for it to be fixed and there may have been a misunderstanding as I came back again and it had not been rectified. I asked to speak to the manager Albert who listened to my issues and promised to resolve the fault. He did and not only that on entering my room i had a some cava and chocloates. Then when i was going out to dinner they also offered me a free drink at the bar in way of an apology. Great custmer service, fixed the fault and made the customer feel valued. This is how to manage a customers first expectations in a new hotel. Well done Golden Tulip Barcelona .

on our first night we were given a smaller room but when we complained, we were sent to a much bigger room. The hotel is very neat and my friend and i used to joke that the cleaners spend more than 5hrs in each room. They had a very nice selection for breakfast as well. The only negative about this hotel is the lack of porters. We had 5 bags between my friend and myself and we had to carry them ourselves. One lady at the front desk helped us with the bags when we had to change rooms otherwise we would have had to carry them ourselves.
