Rotterdam, a modern city with a rich history

In addition to being the largest harbour city of Europe, Rotterdam is also the architectural capital of the Netherlands. Go see the famous kubuswoningen or cube houses, the impressive Euro tower, or the modern Erasmus Bridge. Most of the city centre of Rotterdam was bombed during the second world war and this is why there are so many new and daring buildings, but there are also still some beautiful pre war architectural buildings left like the Sonneveld house and the old Van Nelle factory.

There is a reason why Rotterdam declares itself as the shopping centre of the Netherlands.
